Smart Parenting in the Digital Age

Do you tend to use technology as an emotional pacifier for your children? “Media can be very effective in keeping kids calm and quiet, but it should not be the only way they learn to calm down. Children need to be taught how to identify and handle strong emotions, come up with activities to manage boredom, or calm down through breathing, talking about ways to solve the problem, and finding other strategies for channeling emotions.” In other words, giving children free access to different forms of technology at their disposal can be detrimental to their practice of emotional regulation. Back by popular demand, join Sr. Walida Mukhtar as she talks about age appropriate technology use and Br. Azad Mohamed as he walks us through various apps and software that can better assist parents in monitoring their children’s digital footprint. This is a workshop you won’t want to miss!
